We all want our kids to be happy and not struggle.
There is nothing wrong with that.
When are kids struggle with anxiety we as their parents usually get concerned or even upset.
This can make it worse for our kids.
They start to feel sad because they have made us sad and concerned.
Not only are they sad but they are the reason other people whom they love are sad.
When we tell our kids they should be happy they start to feel broken and then they start to hide their feelings from us because they want to make us happy.
If we can allow our teens to have any feeling they want, then they can feel accepted for who they are and how they feel.
They are allowed to have those feelings.
Teens have all kinds of emotions.
They should be allowed to feel every one of them.
Sometimes it is hard to allow them feel what they are feeling.
We as parents want to fix things for them and make them happy.
It is not a good pattern to get in.
When we teach them to not allow negative emotions then we are teaching them a habit that does not help them to process these emotions.
When we don’t allow negative emotions we suppress them in some way and they always come back even stronger and bigger.
